What immediately stands out is the atmospheric setting. Bay Side manages to create a summery atmosphere that fits perfectly with the kind of emergencies you encounter here. Think of accidents involving water sportsmen, sunburned tourists and festival incidents. This variation creates interesting new challenges for every ambulance professional in the game.

The map itself is well designed, with sufficient variety between built areas, nature and coastlines. The routes are logical, but sometimes require the utmost of your driving skills in busy tourist areas where you have to maneuver along slowly moving cars with siren. The traffic feels a bit more dynamic than in the original folder, which is a welcome improvement.

In terms of gameplay Bay Side does not bring radical innovations, but it builds on what made Ambulance Life strong. The new types of incident are credible and offer just enough variety to keep experienced players sharp. Some players might have hoped for new vehicles or tools, but they are still lacking in this DLC.

Performance is generally stable. During busy moments light framedrops can occur, especially on older systems, but this rarely affects the playing experience. Voice-overs and control room communication are again professionally spoken and contribute to the immersion.
