Review: Block Fortress 2

-Block Fortress 2 marks a strong return from Foursaken Media to the hybrid genre they made popular themselves. The game combines tower defense, creative construction capabilities and first-person shooter action in a surprisingly well-balanced package that impresses both solo and multiplayer.

Gameplay and concept
In Block Fortress 2, building your own base is just the beginning. Players are given full freedom to design structures and strategically place defense towers. When the enemy waves begin, you seamlessly switch to a first-person perspective to fight with yourself. This interaction between strategy and action keeps the game dynamic and challenging.

Improvements over the original
The game builds on the foundation of its predecessor, but with numerous improvements. The interface is intuïThe building feels more fluid and the AI is noticeably smarter. Also graphically the game has received a significant upgrade, with sharper textures, better lighting and a more streamlined presentation.

Multiplayer and co-op
One of the strengths of this Steam version is the addition of comprehensive multiplayer options. Players can now build and defend bases together in coöPerative mode, or competing in competitive matches. This significantly prolongs the game's lifetime and makes it attractive to players who love collaboration or PvP challenges.

Minorities
Although Block Fortress 2 deserves a lot of praise, there are some comments. The difficulty level can be overwhelming for new players, especially if they are not familiar with the genre. Also the control in FPS mode sometimes feels a bit awkward, especially in intensive fights. Finally, there are some small bugs and optimization problems, although they are actively working on them through updates.
