Review: Cinema Simulator
First impression
Cinema Simulator, developed by Overload Games, puts you in the role of cinema owner. You start with a bare space and a handful of movies, and slowly build a commercial empire full of screens, snacks and stress. But is this simulator a blockbuster or rather a B-film?
Gameplay and Structure
The game offers a typical chore-core experience: You fill the fridge, plant movie shows, serve customers and upgrade your rooms. It starts simply, but as you progress you unlock more features like staff, decorations and a movie catalogue with funny titled fictional movies. Through HIDB (a parody on IMDb) you can select popular movies for extra income.
Although the concept is fun, the execution often feels repetitive. The gameplay lacks depth: Stock management is simplistic, customer behaviour is predictable, and the pace of progression is slow. The fact that you order supplies from the store next to your cinema via a tablet interface is functional, but not exactly compelling.
Visual presentation and atmosphere
Graphically the game disappoints. The environments are bald, the models simplistic and the lighting level. The posters of films are generated with AI, which contributes to an atmosphere of cheap production. Music is scarce and sound design is limited to standard sounds. The humor in film titles is a bright spot, but the whole thing lacks polish.
Technical side and updates
The game got a modest update after release, but still has bugs and illogical mechanics (like a fridge that breaks if you leave it open). Customers quickly become impatient, and the lack of variation in tasks makes the gameplay start to drag after a few hours.

Verdict
Cinema Simulator has a charming starting point and occasionally manages to entertain with its light tone and absurd details. But the superficial gameplay, moderate visuals and slow progression make it difficult to stay fascinated for a long time. For fans of niche simulators it is a nice snack, but don't expect a movie hit.
