Review: House Builder 2

House Builder 2 is a surprisingly fun and relaxing construction simulator that stands out because of its charm and simplicity. I played the game with the highest graphic settings, and for a game that clearly has a retro look, it looks particularly good. The lighting, textures and small details such as dust clouds when sawing or paint that visibly dries give the whole a realistic and cared for feeling.

What is immediately striking is how well performed the animations are. Whether you brick walls, place fences or paint a house, everything runs smoothly and feels natural. The building itself is satisfactory and there is a pleasant pace in it, without it becoming too slow or monotonous. Players who like to work faster will also enjoy this, because the game keeps a good rhythm and remains interesting.

What I do miss is a slightly better explanation about the controls and the different tools. Sometimes you have to figure out what the intention is, which can be confusing especially at first. You also have to save your progress the game does not do this automatically, which is easy to forget. In addition you can find on the islands small things that as nice extra’But they are not necessary to move on.

After longer playing time, however, you notice that the game gets a little monotonous, because you do the same actions more and more often. Yet the whole remains relaxed and atmospheric, especially for those who like quiet building without stress.
