Review: Rennsport

Rennsport tries to position itself as a new standard in simracing, but in its current state feels more like an unfinished product than a full release.

Rennsport was developed by Competition Company and Teyon, and published by Nacon. The game was released in November 2025 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. Although the ambition is great, a modern simulator that brings PC and console dances together is disappointing for the time being.

The first impression is that Rennsport convinces visually. Thanks to Unreal Engine 5 eye circuits and car’s realistic, with detailed lighting and tight models. However, there are graphical shortcomings, such as visible “Dolls” of grass and an outdated look of some menu’s. The physics are solid: car’S react as you expect and you can't just take them “discard” As in Gran Turismo. This gives a serious sim experience, but also a high entry threshold. Beginners will often fly off the bend and even experienced players will have to practice well.

In terms of content, Rennsport is very short. There are only a few modes: time trial, a few championships, short race weekends and online races. For a title that wants to measure with established names like iRacing or Assetto Corsa this feels lean. The lack of variation and depth makes the game quickly repetitive. Moreover, there are bugs and technical problems that disturb the experience.

On consoles the release is important because the simracing is less represented there. Yet Rennsport misses it “soul” element that brings good simulators to life. You drive, win or lose, but rarely you feel real tension or satisfaction. The chassis is standing, but the engine is not running full.

In summary: Rennsport is an ambitious attempt to create a new simracer, but the game feels unfinished. Strong points are the realistic physics and the graphical basis. Weak points are the lack of content, bugs, and an emotionally flat experience. For hardcore simfans it can be an interesting addition, but if you're looking for a complete and polished racing game, you're still short.

Verdict

Rennsport is a title that explicitly focuses on realism and technical quality, but in its present form it feels more like a foundation than a full product. The physics and graphic presentation lay a solid foundation, but the limited range of content, bugs and high entry threshold ensure that the game does not convince as the new standard in simracing. For hardcore simfans it may be interesting to follow the development, but for the broader target group it is wiser to wait until Rennsport offers more depth, stability and variation.
