Review: Riders Republic

Riders Republic is a game of October 28, 2021 that revolves around one thing: fun. Whether you want to stun in a vast open world or compete in fast races, Riders Republic offers a plethora of opportunities to live your life out.

In this game there is no pressure to actually win races in the main story, but just finishes is enough to go to the next chapter. Riders Republic avoids the traditional "game over" screen and encourages players to do what they enjoy whenever they want.

The focus is mainly on racing online together. During the free riding there are always other players present. Besides the regular races against virtual opponents, there are also Mass Events that take place at regular intervals. These events bring together up to 64 players in races covering multiple disciplines. The result is a chaotic and exciting experience, where players can ride bikes, use wingsuits and race on skis, and encounter exotic obstacles such as a giraffe on a bike or a person in a monkey costume along the way.

An important aspect of an online game like Riders Republic is the ability to customize your character. Unfortunately, the game has made a mistake in this respect. Although you can give your character a different look for any discipline, you have to buy most outfits in the store. However, earning in-game money is slow, making it difficult to make enough money to buy fun outfits for any discipline. There is also the possibility to buy coins with real money to buy outfits. Adjusting your character is therefore too complicated and can cost too much money, making most players eventually drive around in standard outfits.

As far as the game world is concerned, Riders Republic is impressive. The map of the game covers an area of about 250 square kilometers and covers almost all national parks from the southwest of the United States. From Bryce to Zion, from the canyonlands with the Colorado River to the white mountains of the Grand Teton and the Yosemite Valley, the game offers a compact card packed with action. Each corner of the map is full of rides, challenges and collectibles, including iconic sights, musical campfire scenes and balloons for extra experience points.

Although the game is visually stunning, the engine sometimes has some difficulty keeping up with all the splendor, with occasional pop-up problems. Although it is understandable that the game cannot display every kilometer in full detail, the transition of details could have been more gradual.

Riders Republic is an exuberant and exciting game that revolves around fun and freedom. With its huge playing world and the ability to race with dozens of players online, the game offers an adventurous experience for fans of extreme sports and action games. Despite some shortcomings in character adjustment and visual performance, Riders Republic manages to take players on an exciting journey full of adrenaline and excitement.
