Review: The Smurfs 2: The Prisoner of the Green Stone
After the fantastic adventure of our predecessor, we return to our blue friends in this review. Does this sequel also entertain us? You'll see it all in this review.
The Story
The story begins with Cutselsmurf who, as always, has a brilliant idea to improve his Smurf mixer. However, to achieve this, the Smurfs must enter Gargamel's den. The plan doesn't go as planned, and a creature named Stolas escapes. Now our blue friends must work with their archenemy Gargamel to defeat Stolas.
Gameplay and Mechanisms
The gameplay of The Smurfs 2 is almost identical to its predecessor, Mission Vileaf. It's all about destroying crystals to cleanse the world of smurfs. It also contains platform elements and fights against cristobes. By getting rid of levels of crystallization and defeating cristobes, you collect crystals. These are used to improve the Smurf mixer and its substances.
The smurf mixer quickly gets additional applications, such as slowing down guessing, destroying blockages and creëRun platforms. The challenge lies in the balance between platform work and fights against cristobes, which keeps the adventure interesting.
Challenge and Benefits
Special portals trigger challenges in which you have to beat waves of cristobes within a certain time. RewardsëCrystals up to extra costumes and Nutty substance. Nothingness is used to unlock unique signature skills for every Smurf. These attacks add depth to the gameplay and can also be improved.
Lack of Variation and Playfulness
The biggest disadvantage of De Smurfs 2 is the lack of variation and playfulness compared to its predecessor. The three areas offer only a subtle challenge, and the game lacks the surprising concepts that made Mission Vileaf so attractive. It lacks the playfulness that the smurf charm expressed in Mission Vileaf.

Verdict
The Smurfs 2: The Prisoner of the Green Stone is a solid sequel, but it lacks the variation, playfulness and fun extras that characterized its predecessor. Nevertheless, it offers challenging platformwork and fights against cristobes. Although it does not reach the heights of the first game, it remains a solid choice for fans of the Smurfs. The Xbox Series version has been tested, but the game is available on multiple platforms.
