Review: Tiny Bookshop

 A quiet escape 

Tiny Bookshop has really been a surprising discovery to me. Where many games nowadays are crowded, full of text or competitive, this game feels like a calm breathing space. From the moment I put my little mobile bookstore by the sea, I immediately find myself in a different atmosphere: soft, friendly and relaxing. The colours and music do their work, but especially the calm pace makes me completely unwind. 

Storyline without overload

What I really appreciate is the way the story is told. There is a clear storyline and the world feels lively, but there is never excessive talk or explanation. That's ideal for me, because long dialogues often scare me. In Tiny Bookshop you get exactly enough information to feel involved, without feeling trapped in endless reading or clicking. The balance remains perfect: You feel part of the village and its inhabitants, but always retains the freedom to play yourself at your pace. 

Find the fun of books

The best part I like is looking for the right books for the customers. That feels like a little puzzle: Someone tells us something short about what they're looking for, and you try to find the right book from your collection. That sounds simple, but it gives a lot of satisfaction when you choose exactly that one book that makes the customer happy.

Customize

Another nice aspect is how to customize your bookshop. Every object you place, whether inside or around, has an effect. For example, a beautiful decoration can make you sell more drama books, while other objects may have a funny or even clumsy effect. Think of a cactus where customers can accidentally prick themselves! This gives the game a playful and surprising layer, because you can constantly experiment with how your store influences sales and the atmosphere.
