Amazon stops Prime Gaming brand, retain Twitch benefits

Amazon has confirmed today that the Prime Gaming brand is being discontinued. Although the name disappears, Prime members need not worry: The benefits on Twitch remain fully intact.

Users who have linked their Twitch and Amazon accounts and have active Prime membership retain their monthly free channel subscription. Also extra’s such as extensive emote sets, custom chat colors and additional stream storage remain available.

Although references to ‘Prime Gaming’ from Twitch disappearing, the process to cash your free sub remains unchanged. The functionality remains the way users are used to.

In addition, Prime members continue to benefit from free PC games made available every month. These titles can be downloaded and permanently retained regardless of whether cloudgaming is available via Luna in their region. The games are offered as part of Luna Standard, wherever Amazon Prime is active.

With this change, Amazon seems to simplify the Prime Gaming label without sacrificing the value for gamers. The focus remains on direct benefits for Twitch users and continued access to free games.
