Assassin's Creed Shadows expansion, Claws or Awaji, now available

Ubisoft today launched the long-awaited expansion Claws of Awaji for Assassin's Creed Shadows. The extra content is available for free to players who have purchased the game via pre-order, but can also be purchased separately on all platforms.

The expansion, developed by Ubisoft Bordeaux, offers more than ten hours of new gameplay. Players explore a brand new region and follow a story that deepens the adventures of Naoe and Yasuke main characters. Access to the extension requires that the main story of the base game is completed, as events take place chronologically thereafter.

In Claws of Awaji, Naoe travels to the mysterious island of Awaji, looking for an unknown shinobi. Together with Yasuke, she is fighting the Sanzoku Ippa, a ruthless faction that disrupts peace on the island. Players are immersed in vibrant cities and impressive maritime landscapes, but must remain wary of ambush and trap.

The expansion introduces new weapons skills, armoring and equipment for both main characters. These upgrades are also usable in the base game and help players to defeat new enemy types and challenging end bosses. In addition, all players, regardless of whether they own the expansion, get access to a free quest that unlocks the new Bo Staff weapon for Naoe. This staff is known for its speed and flowing combo. Players with the expansion can also find legendary variants of the Bo Staff on Awaji.

Since the release of Assassin's Creed Shadows several updates have been rolled out, including New Game+, the difficulty level Nightmare and a community-driven patch of September 11. The latter adds among other things the ability to flush the time forward and automatically remove the fog from the card after completing all synchronization points.

Assassin's Creed Shadows is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series XJS, Amazon Luna and Windows PC, including via the Ubisoft Store.
