Borderlands 4 for Switch 2 postponed due to technical problems

The release of Borderlands 4 for Nintendo’s upcoming Switch 2-console has been postponed indefinitely. According to an officialële post on social network X requires the game extra development and polishing time to ensure a stable experience. Gearbox and 2K publisher have not yet confirmed this delay on their own websites.

The delay comes at a time when players on PC and PlayStation 5 already complain about performance problems. Gearbox-ceo Randy Pitchford has now recognized these issues for the PS5 Pro, after previous denial.

The Switch 2 version requires additional work, including support for cross-saves. This feature, which allows for sharing Savegames between platforms, is considered essential by the developers.

Nintendo applies the policy that digital preorders are automatically cancelled if delayed for more than seven days. For Borderlands 4 This happens on Friday 26 September. Customers can also manually cancel their preorder via the eShop. Anyone who has ordered a physical version must contact the relevant store.

A new release date for the Switch 2 version will follow once the development planning has been revised.
