The annual Call of Duty: NEXT event is over and with that the first bètaweekend from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Started. Players who preordered the game digitally can currently work on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5 and PC with the bèta, which runs until tomorrow. Owners of a Nintendo Switch 2 get during the second bètaweekend access to the test version.
In a comprehensive review of the officialële Call of Duty blog has shared developer Activision more details about the new multiplayer experience. Improvements in the areas of movement, gunplay and personalization are central.
One of the biggest innovations is the extensive movement system. New functions such as Mantle Slide, Mantle Momentum, Mantle Steering, Supine Slide, Pipe Climb, Hang Shimmy and Hang Lean should give players more freedom to link movements smoothly without losing precision. According to Activision, this creates a more dynamic and responsive playing style.
The shooting system also gets a big update. For example, bloom is completely removed from hipfire battles, making shots feel more consistent. In addition, weapons and the environment now share ééa common field of vision. Improvements to recoil, weapon handling and visual effects should ensure that battles are clearer and easier to follow.
The known Create-a-Class-system is also being extended. Operators and Killstreaks are now part of every loadout, while the return of Gunny helps players with recommendations for optimized weapon builds. New are also the so-called Apex Attachments, which unlock unique features at the maximum weapon level without using an attachment lock.
Furthermore, Modern Warfare is introducing 4 new equipment in the form of Trip Wire, Smoke Wall and Razor Wire. The popular Riot Shield returns as Field Upgrade, while the new Bomb Glider Players give control over a controlled air Killstreak.
For players who like to level there are two Prestige options available at launch. Besides the traditional Classic Prestige, where progress is reset for new rewards, there will also be a Regular Prestige-system that preserves free-played content while players start again from level 1.
In addition, fans got a first look at the content that will be available at the release. Activision talks about more than 500 possible combinations within the new Kill Block- experience, the introduction of the Inflation-mode and twelve Core 6v6 maps starting from day één playable.
Finally, the Call of Duty Endowment: Valor Pack It was announced. For this special package, the Call of Duty Endowment works with Kyle Carpenter, veteran of the American Marine Corps and recipient of the Medal of Honor. The Valor Pack will be published on October 23rd at the same time as the launch of Modern Warfare 4.
With bèta now in full swing players already get the chance to try out the many innovations themselves before the game officially appears later this year.
