Dying Light: The Beast celebrates first birthday with physical PS5 edition and anniversary events
Dying Light: The Beast exists één year and developer Techland does not let that milestone pass unnoticed. The studio has announced a physical PlayStation 5 release of the game and organises special anniversary activities for three weeks. Players can also count on free rewards, temporary events and substantial discounts.
Techland celebrates the first anniversary of Dying Light on September 18: The Beast. It's been a year since players first met Castor Woods. To celebrate the anniversary, the Polish developer announced several activities and new editions.
One of the most striking announcements is the arrival of a physical version for the PlayStation 5. Techland works with Super Rare Games for this purpose. Three different versions appear: a Standard Edition for the regular retail market, a Super Rare Games Edition and a more extensive Anniversary Edition.
All three versions contain the Dying Light Definitive Edition: The Beast, which includes all the updates that have been released since the original release.
The Standard Edition consists of a physical PS5 version of the game and a manual. According to Techland, this execution does not have a pre-order limit. The Super Weird Games Edition includes a Super Weird Games sticker, an exclusive metallic slip cover and a numbered edition in addition to the game and manual. This edition is only offered in limited numbers.
For collectors there will also be an Anniversary Edition. This version specifically targets fans of the game and contains various physical collectibles that have beenïInspired by Castor Woods. Only a limited edition is available.
The physical editions will be available from September 18th at 4 pm to reserve CEST via Super Rare Games. The Super Rare Games Edition and Anniversary Edition remain available for pre-order until October 16. The final edition is determined after the ordering period has ended. According to Techland, physical versions can be ordered in most of the world, although availability and shipping options may vary by country.
The physical release is not the only one with which Techland has the annual existence of Dying Light: The Beast is celebrating. The developer also organises three weeks of community activities. As a warm-up, a Double XP Event will take place from 18 to 21 September. During this period players receive twice as many experience points.
After that, The Call of the Beast: Anniversary Edition central. This event lasts three weeks and introduces global community goals. Players can also vote for special bonuses that become active during the weekends. By achieving the weekly goals, the community can clear several anniversary rewards. These include a unique outfit and a special weapon.ïInspired by Castor Woods.
The so-called Crane’s Anniversary Drops geïIntroduce. Players who log on daily receive a new surprise every day. The rewards consist of a combination of in-game objects and digital anniversary extras. Every Friday, players can also claim an exclusive weapon that can be used during Call of the Beast.
Besides the anniversary events Techland temporarily gives away the Discharge Weapon Pack. The package can be claimed free of charge from September 17 to 24 through Steam, the PlayStation Store and Xbox.
Also players that Dying Light: Don't own The Beast yet, can benefit from an offer during the anniversary. The digital version of the game is temporarily available at a 50 percent discount on all platforms. Techland says it's the biggest discount on the game so far. The offer runs until 26 September.
A Franchise Bundle is also available from 14 to 26 September. This bundle contains Dying Light, Dying Light 2: Stay Human and Dying Light: The Beast. The discount on this bundle can be up to 70 percent.
With the physical PS5 release, three weeks of anniversary activities and various temporary rewards, Techland will deliver extensively for the first anniversary of Dying Light: The Beast. For collectors, the anniversary also means that the game will be physically available for the first time on PlayStation 5.
