Fans fear for Bungie now Destiny 3 would not be active in development

With Bungie It seems that the unrest is increasing again. According to a review of Bloomberg will be available soon “significant” Fired on schedule. At the same time, it would have become clear internally that Destiny 3 is currently not active in development.

The messages come at a striking moment. Just a few hours earlier Bungie confirmed that the support of Destiny 2 is largely completed after the next major update in June. That news caused immediate unrest within the community, as Destiny 2 is still the main active title of the studio.

According to Bloomberg, Bungie explored several other ways to make Destiny 2 more accessible to new players. Eventually, however, the studio would have decided to shift the focus completely to Marathon, which currently pertains to Bungie’s main project.

Developers and resources would have actively shifted from Destiny to Marathon. Bungie would still be new idea within the Destiny universeën and discuss concepts, but according to the report this does not automatically mean that these projects actually get the green light.

The studio would operate with caution because of the current economic situation én the difficult market for live service games. According to the research, there are currently no concrete plans to take Destiny 3 into production.

That means Marathon gets all the attention for now, despite the difficult reception of the shooter. Bungie recently announced that he was working on additional PvE content for players who are less interested in PvP or extraction gameplay. In addition, the studio tries to make the onboarding more accessible to new players.

The situation is particularly striking because Sony Bungie only took over in 2022 as part of his ambitious live service strategy. However, this investment does not yet seem to produce the desired result.

According to the research, Destiny made two financial disappointments for Sony, leading to an impairment of 204 million dollars by 2025. Marathon would also have performed well below expectations, accounting for a loss of no less than $765 million.

Sony has also shown in recent years that it can intervene hard when studio’• to improve the quality of life and the quality of life; Earlier this year, the company closed down Bluepoint Games, known from various remakes and remasters of classic PlayStation games.

Among fans there is a growing concern about the future of Bungie. The studio played an important role in the industry with iconic franchises like Halo and Destiny, and many players hope that Bungie will not face the same fate as other closed PlayStation studio’s.
