Rumors of a further delay in Grand Theft Auto VI: possible shift to October 2026

Rockstar Games seems to reconsider postponing the long-awaited release of Grand Theft Auto VI. Although the game was initially scheduled for the fall of 2025, it was previously shifted to 26 May 2026. Now rumors are circulating that that date may not be reached either.

The information comes from insider and journalist Tom Henderson, known from the platform Insider Gaming. During the most recent episode of his podcast Henderson know he's picking up signals about a possible shift from the release date to October 2026. He stressed, however, that these were vague noises and that he still had insufficient certainty to devote an official article to them.

According to Henderson, Rockstar Games could announce the possible postponement at the next presentation of quarterly figures in November 2025. At the same time, he left open the possibility that the current date of May 2026 would simply be met, given the rumours are not yet concrete enough.

A new delay wouldn't be a big surprise to Rockstar fans. The developer is known for its long development cycles and delaying releases to ensure the quality of their games. Previous titles like Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA V also suffered several shifts before they finally appeared.

For the time being, therefore, it remains awaiting Rockstar's compliance with current planning. Fans will undoubtedly hope that the game will appear in May 2026, but given the reputation of the company and the size of the project, a later release is certainly not excluded.
