GTA 6 adjusts sprint control and breaks with old Rockstar tradition

Rockstar Games seems to make a striking change in the way players sprint in Grand Theft Auto 6. Instead of repeatedly pressing a button, players can now sprint by clicking on the left analog stick.

The information came out after a small group of creators and journalists visited Rockstar Games. According to YouTuber Mikeshowsha, developers confirmed during the visit that the traditional sprint control is replaced by the new method.

For many players this means the end of a well-known Rockstar mechanism that has been used in several titles since 2004. The repeated push of a button to sprint was perceived by some players as clumsy, especially since it could be more difficult to operate the camera at the same time.

However, reactions from the community are divided. Some of the players are pleased with the modernisation, while others are hoping that Rockstar Games will keep the classic control available as an option. Especially players who have been playing Rockstar games for years indicate that the old way of sprinting has become part of their muscle memory and some say also contributes to the immersion.

Rockstar Games already offered various sprint control options in Grand Theft Auto 5, allowing fans to hope that GTA 6 will also receive extensive settings that allow players to choose their own choice.

Whether this option will actually be available has not yet been officially confirmed. However, it is clear that even a relatively small change in the control of GTA 6 once again causes a lot of discussion within the community.

Grand Theft Auto 6 is scheduled for a release on consoles in November.
