Launch trailer of new James Bond game unveiled
Game Developer IO Interactive and Amazon MGM Studios have the officialële launch trailer released from 007 First Light, a new James Bond game redesigning the origin story of the iconic secret agent.
The game will be released on May 27, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X. A version for Nintendo Switch 2 is scheduled for the summer of 2026. Players can already reserve the game. Anyone placing a pre-order will receive a free upgrade to the Deluxe Edition, including 24-hour early access and exclusive in-game outfits and skins.
In 007 First Light follow players a young James Bond, played by Patrick Gibson. The story begins in Iceland, where, after a life-threatening situation, Bond draws the attention of MI6.
Within the Secret Service Bond gets support from M, played by Priyanga Burford. She sees potential in his ability to stay cool under pressure and relies on his instincts in the field.
Not everyone in the 00 program shares that trust. John Greenway, a former 00-agent and training instructor, precisely believes in discipline and rules. The role is played by Lennie James. His clash with Federal improvisation style is an important part of the story.
When the missing agent 009 unexpectedly returns, the 00 program is confronted with its first major crisis. Bond subsequently travels the world, from the remote Carpathians to the dangerous black market of Aleph, and eventually ends up in front of the mysterious Bawma, played by Lenny Kravitz.
According to IO Interactive running 007 First Light for freedom of approach. Players can perform missions via stealth, direct action or a combination of both.
The gameplay relies on four main systems:
- Spycraft Rewards observation. Players can listen to conversations, steal objects and collect clues to discover new routes and possibilities.
- With Bond’s Instinct enemies can be distracted, suspicious situations are bluffed or fights are conducted more accurately.
- The familiar gadgets of Q Branch offer tactical options such as hacking, opening locks and silent shutdowns.
- When stealth fails, the game switches to fast action with close-combat and firefights that eventually lead to Bonds famous “Licence to Kill”.
With the new trailer, IO Interactive and Amazon MGM Studios focus on a more cinematic and personal interpretation of James Bond, combined with the open gameplay that the studio is known for thanks to the Hitman series.
