Quick releases, little support: KIKI Games under review!!

In this article we look critically at KIKI Games, a team that is both developer and publisher, and we analyze a pattern that seems to be visible on several of their releases.

Indie games live by the grace of trust. Players not only invest money, but also time and goodwill in smaller development teams, often with the expectation that a game after release will be supported, improved and further developed. If that confidence is lacking, it will not only affect ééN title, but the whole indie-gaming community.

A recurring pattern

What stands out at KIKI Games is the pace at which new games are released. In a short time several titles appear on Steam, often with interesting ideaën and a clear niche. On paper, that sounds positive, but on closer inspection, a different picture will emerge...
With multiple games you can see that:

  • the releases take place quickly (within 1/2 weeks)
  • there are already a lot of bugs in the game at the launches
  • updates and patches after 1 à Stop 2 months already
  • communication to the players is minimal or not
  • the games all around the €10
  • they are themselves the publisher of their homemade games

Quality and technical condition

Bugs and technical problems are of course found in any game, especially in indie games. That is not so bad in itself, but what does make it bad is when these bugs are not addressed and simply ignored. In several titles of KIKI Games these complaints keep coming back and the reviews say exactly the same. You also see in the discussions that people keep complaining about this and nothing is done about it!

The impact on players

Players pay for a product that gives the impression to be unfinished, without the certainty that improvements will ever follow. Refunds are no longer possible over time, or after a few hours playing the game. The state of the game is also unchanged. This is extra painful for players with limited budget, who consciously opt for indie games in the hope of quality and long-term support.

Missed potential

Yet some games from KIKI Games have shown clear potential. With more time, updates and involvement these titles had éreally can grow into popular games! The problem does not seem to be the lack of idea.ën, but lack of further development after release.

Be critical as a buyer!

Based on the observed patterns you need to be critical when purchasing games from KIKI Games. For players who value post-launch support, updates and long-term quality, it's wise to look at reviews and update history before you get anything! Because there will probably be more of these developers/publishers on gaming platforms!
