Remedy Entertainment gets new lead and loses in third quarter

At Remedy Entertainment, the lead changes. Tero Virtala, CEO since 2016, leaves immediately. He shall remain temporarily on board to facilitate the transfer of his duties.

Markus Mäki, one of the founders of Remedy, takes over the role of interim CEO. Mäki has been on the board since 1995 and has been chairman until recently. He now lays down that role, but he remains involved in the production of the games and as a member of the board.

“It's time for a new phase for Remedy,” says Mäki. “I want to thank Tero for everything he has meant to the company and wish him all the best for the future.”

Henri ÖSterlund is the new chairman of the board. He has been with Remedy since 2017 and will join Mäki ensure stability while the company is looking for a permanent CEO.

In addition to the changes in management, Remedy recently financedëthe figures for the third quarter of 2025. The company recorded an operational loss of EUR 16.4 million between July and September. For comparison: In the same period last year there was a profit of 2.4 million euros.

Remedy, known from Max Payne, Alan Wake and the recently released FBC: Firebreak had warned earlier that the results would be under pressure. Firebreak's release was disappointing and the sales figures remained behind, although the studio promises to continue supporting the game.

Yet Remedy looks forward. With several titles under development, such as Control 2 and the remakes of the first two Max Payne games, the studio hopes to turn the tide. For fans it is an exciting moment: The studio continues to move, both in terms of games and management, and it becomes interesting to see which direction Remedy is heading.
