Rockstar Games releases PS5 exclusive update for GTA V

Rockstar Games released a new update for Grand Theft Auto V, exclusively for PlayStation 5. The patch, with version number 1.009.001, has a file size of about 692MB and focuses on solving a specific ray tracing bug.

Bugfix for helicopter shadows

The visual error caused helicopter blades to cast dark, rotating shadows while flying. Players reported that this problem was especially visible when using ray tracing options. After installing the update, this bug seems to have been fixed.

Only available for PlayStation 5

It is striking that the update is only available for the PS5 version of GTA V. No similar patches have appeared for the PlayStation 4, Xbox consoles or PC. This indicates that Rockstar focuses on technical optimization for the current generation of hardware.

Although Rockstar is not yet officialële patch notes share, users indicate that the visual error has disappeared after the update. Apart from this correction, the patch does not appear to contain any new content or gameplay changes.

Known problems persist

Despite the bugfix, some persistent problems remain in GTA V and GTA Online. Players still report connection errors at startup, especially in Europe. In addition, glitches such as the god fashion bug and the facility glitch continue to occur. The loading times during GTA Online activities have also remained unchanged for a long time.
