Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV appears on December 3, Commander Edition gets early access

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV will appear on December 3, 2026. That's what developer KING Art Games announced. Players who purchase the Commander Edition can get started three days earlier and get access to the new real-time strategy game from November 30th.

The extra time until the release is used by KING Art Games to Dawn of War IV further refine. The developer focuses on optimizations, bug fixes and further tightening of the gameplay. Feedback is also processed that emerged from the community during recent play tests.

According to the studio the development is progressing steadily. In the months preceding the release, KING Art Games wants to show more of the game through new Battlefield Reports, Gameplay Showcases and Developer Deep Dives.

Additional time for optimization

Creative Director Jan Theysen explains that the developer saw opportunities to further improve quality during the final phase of the development process.

“When the final stage of the development process approached, we saw the possibility to improve Dawn of War IV even more, in order to deliver the quality we always had in mind.”

According to Theysen, the extra development time allows the team to further optimize performance, solve bugs and further polish the game. The ultimate goal is to offer players the best possible experience from day one.

KING Art Games simultaneously has an updated version of the Year One Roadmap Shared. It incorporates the new timing around the release. Concrete release dates for the various updates after launch will be published later.

Play with Commander Edition three days earlier

The regular release of Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV is planned for 3 December 2026. Buyers of the Commander Edition get three days early access and can therefore already 30 November Start.

Both editions are currently pre-ordered with 10% discount.

The release is also just the beginning of the plans for the strategy game. KING Art Games has scheduled several free updates and additional content for the first year.

Crusade Mode returns

During Year One, players can look forward to the return of Crusade Mode. New maps, modes and Commanders are also on schedule.

In addition, a Mission Editor added, giving players more opportunities to engage with the game's fights and content.

Besides the free updates, two major story extensions are planned. These enlargements should lead to a conflict between the Member States. Kronus Continue to deepen. In addition, a new faction is added to the battlefield via post-launch content.

When these extensions and other Year One content appear exactly, it will be announced at a later date.

Back to the Warhammer 40,000 universe

Dawn of War IV Brings the well-known strategy series back to the Warhammer 40,000 universe. Players gain control four different factions, each part of a bigger story.
