Is Roblox banned?

There have been more and more rumors lately that Roblox may be banned. Social media sounds like panic, but what's the real deal?

In some countries, Roblox is indeed blocked or banned, mainly because of concerns about child safety and moderation. Think of inappropriate content, chats that can be abused and too little protection for young players.

What does the Netherlands think about this?

The Netherlands has started an investigation into Roblox. The Authority Consumer and Market (ACM) is concerned about the safety of children on the platform. According to signals, young players can experience extreme violence, but also sexual harassment, extortion and online grooming.

Of course, the fact that this happens in a game played mainly by children is not normal. The ACM therefore wants to investigate whether Roblox is doing enough to protect minors and whether the platform complies with European rules.

• No harmful content such as extreme violence or sexually tinted content
• Do not use misleading tricks (such as manipulative purchases)
• Parents should be able to control
• Lootboxes are also supervised in the Netherlands if they look like gambling

A direct ban in the Netherlands or the EU has not been announced at the moment.
