Xbox puts Japan at the centre of Tokyo Game Show 2025: 25 titles, big revelations and Game Pass extensions
During the Xbox Tokyo Game Show 2025 presentation, which is available today on demand, Microsoft has made an impressive series of announcements highlighting Japanese gaming culture. With a line-up of 25 titles, new gameplay images and surprising revelations, it was a show that captivated gamers worldwide.
Japan as a backdrop for new blockbusters
One of the biggest announcements was that of Forza Horizon 6, which takes place completely in Japan. The game appears in 2026 and promises a visually stunning open world in which traditional villages, neon-lit cities and mountain passes come together. Also Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 gets a Japanese update with World Update XX, which shows even more realistic iconic locations and landscapes.
New gameplay and extensions
Fans of mythology and action got a taste of Age of Mythology: Heavenly Spear, which launches next week with a renewed visual style. Ninja Gaiden 4 was discussed extensively and promises an intense challenge for both veterans and newcomers, including upcoming DLC. In addition, two new multiplayer maps for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 revealed, both located in Japan, and thanked the developers of Fallout 76 the Japanese community with a tribute to the best local C.A.M.P. creations.
Game Pass expands with Japanese flair
Different titles, including Forza Horizon 6, Terminull Brigade and Winter BurrowCome to Game Pass. Most support Xbox Play Anywhere, allowing players to enjoy on console, PC and on the go, including the new ROG Xbox Ally handhelds that appear on October 16th.
Partners bring surprises
Also Xbox partners came with big news. Square Enix brought in unexpectedly Romancing Saga 2: Revenge of the Seven Out. IO Interactive revealed that actress Gemma Chan plays the leading role in 007 First Light, and Capcom showed new gameplay of Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection. Moreover, the first two parts of this series are now also coming to Xbox.
The future of Japanese gaming
Square Enix, Pocketpair and Arc System Works showed how to shape the future of gaming by making their titles available on ROG Ally/Ally X and Game Pass via Microsoft Source. This cooperation underlines Xbox’ bet to connect Japanese developers and players worldwide.
